The Real Digital Piano

Here arises with me the curiosity, playing an improvisation with a piano. The sound space, as well as the sound-body are explored and put into a sound scene, where a work from it is to arise. The piano is provided with another partner.

A.I. generator, as digital contrast, whereby also the midi track can be used again as ‚digital piano‘ and a direct piano‘ and represents a direct reflection.
From this, a composition is to be created, which will also be performed and which will and digital composing, as well as the research of new tools of composing. research of new tools of composing will be explored.

I worked with AIVA, an AI plattform for compositions, to generate another version of my improvisation. My parameters were the original key in E Major and a Soft Piano. Listen to E9 Generated #358

After I download the Midi and MP3 from AIVA, I put it on MuseScore to edit the score to this: E9 for Piano & Voices #358

C# Major #346

On another day, I was curious to see if the AI could detect progression on the keys and how it handled that in the generated processing. Especially at the beginning of the original recording you can hear well what I was trying to achieve.

In this case, I thought a cello would sound wonderful next to a solo instrument and the piano. I then decided on the clarinet and the whole thing sounds like this

After having created a few improvisations with piano, I also wanted to know what happens when I don’t work with the piano. Here are two examples:

1. Subject cowbell or cow herd
2. The silence in the void

So I was in Tyrol in Fiss and recorded a cow herd.

I was curious what AI would do with this and I startet with the parameter „original key in B Minor“ and soft piano

After the soft piano I wanted to know what will happen if I change the parameter, so I choosed ‚Heavy Rock Ensemble‘ but stayed with the original key in B Minor

Also I tried the Synthwaves as parameter in the original key B Minor

The Silent in the Void

Last year I had a John Cage moment, so I sat at the piano, recorded a minute of silence and wanted to create an AI music file. But since July 2022, the silence has been trapped in AIVA’s infinite renders.
